![As I mentioned in my post on the 1st of the month, June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, a cause very near and dear to Sarah’s heart 🧠💜 Through @iamsarahgrafferty’s advocacy efforts, I’ve not only learned about the importance of brain health in my own life but also about why bringing awareness towards and for Alzheimer’s and brain health research is so important. We all have a reason to take action as Alzheimer’s touches the lives of many in unimaginable ways.
In a recent panel discussion with Samantha Skey at the Flow Space Women’s Health Summit in LA, Sarah said the following:
“Suits was an amazing thing in my life, and I feel so grateful that it gave me a platform […] This is the thing that I’ve been struggling with…[but] being able to talk about it has brought more and more community of other people who are going through the same thing […] This is why it’s really important to collaborate outside our borders…of the U.S., if we want to solve Alzheimer’s, we’re going to need to collaborate on that as a world.”
She also shared some simple and accessible ways we can promote brain health in our daily lives:
🏃🏻♀️ Exercise (preferably with friends because building community is key 🔑 👯♀️)
🫐 Eat blueberries!
🧖🏼♀️ Enjoy the sauna
🍫 Eat chocolate! But mind the sugar 👀
😓 Manage stress
🗺️ Expose yourself to different cultures, languages and experiences
🧘🏻♀️ Meditate, if you can (otherwise, do what Sarah does and jump on a trampoline!)
I’m going purple this month in honor of Sarah’s commitment to this worthy cause 💜
